Damian Hospital's Dream Journal
What are dreams?
1) Are they simply biological housecleaning?
2) Or are they your unconscious or subconscious mind telling offering you some introspection through symbolism?
3) Are they a doorway into your own psyche or a doorway into other worlds, lifetimes, timelines, dimensions, or universes?
4) All of the above?
5) None of the above?
6) Something else?
From my schooling, personal research, and personal experience with dream interpretation I can vouch that there is some truth #1-4 and #6.
I know the criticism: that dreams mean nothing or are just a chemical reaction based on daily stimuli. Uh-huh. How Western.
Anyway, I believe Freud was correct: at the most basic level we dream of our subconscious fears or desires that we are too shameful to admit or come to terms with, even through conscious rationalization.
But I've also had dreams that simply regurgitate daily events- like if I saw a movie or played an intense video game.
And then I've had lucid dreams where I can't separate reality from the dreamworld, where my heart races, and I am covered with sweat. I believe it to be real; I can feel sensations with my five senses.
As far as alternate timelines, seeing the future, deja vu, past lives, and other earths go: it's fun to speculate and may be true or may be an illusion. No way of knowing for sure, now is there?
It's fun to notice patterns in your dreams, which aid in dream interpretation. You can see that your waking world has an affect on your dream world. Why did you dream about being chased again? Why are your parents younger? Back at the old house again?
I had a truly revealing dream where "The Truth" came to me- I was in full control of my dream. I am the creator and master. I create the scenarios, and I write the dialog, I make the setting, I cause my own feelings, I manipulate it to make sense within the rules of the dream, I setup the dream fail safes, etc.
Dreams have meanings. Listen to them.
On the following pages of this Dream Journal you will read some of my dreams that I had originally posted on Dream Seeker Blog, but I will add my own dream analysis (something which was outside the scope when I posted them).
I'm hoping you can use my dreams to learn about yourself.
